About Fondazione Chips-IT

The Fondazione “Italian Center for Integrated Circuit Design,” also known as the Fondazione Chips-IT, is a nonprofit research and technology organization under the supervision of the Ministries of Industry.

Chips-IT is Italy's first RTO (Research and Technology Organization) vertically focused on semiconductor research and stands as a center of excellence in frontier research on semiconductor design, as well as a pivotal center of the Italian semiconductor ecosystem and expertise.

• Ensure the establishment of a network of universities, research centers and enterprises that fosters innovation and technology transfer in the field

Chips-IT is seeking a motivated and structured Technical Project Manager to support the coordination of technical and operational activities related to the DECIDE project (European Chip Design Platform).

The role is operational in nature and focuses on supporting the day-to-day management of the project, including the planning, execution, and monitoring of project deliverables in line with agreed timelines and quality standards. The Technical Project Manager will work closely with the internal team and interact regularly with an international partnership of research organisations, industrial players, and institutional stakeholders, contributing to reporting, documentation, and coordination activities. Depending on project needs, the role may also include support activities for start-ups and SMEs engaged through the EuroCDP framework, as well as Technical PM support to other Chips-IT initiatives.

This is a fixed-term position until December 31, 2028, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the planning, execution, and monitoring of project activities and deliverables, tracking progress against milestones and ensuring timely, quality-compliant delivery.
• Interact with an international partnership of research organisations, industrial players, and institutional stakeholders, contributing to coordination, reporting, and documentation activities.
• Manage interactions with Chips-IT's internal teams, external experts, and technology/tool providers, ensuring procedural compliance and operational continuity.
• Monitor the execution of activities, organise periodic technical reviews, and flag deviations or bottlenecks, proposing corrective actions where needed.
• Where required, support start-ups and SMEs engaged through the EuroCDP framework in defining roadmaps, assessing feasibility, and accessing Chips-IT's services and programmes.
• Contribute to ecosystem activities by participating in events and supporting communication and outreach efforts.
• Other Chips-IT Activities: Provide Technical PM support to other Chips-IT initiatives as needed.

Requirements & Competencies

• Technical Background (mandatory): Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or a closely related discipline (e.g., microelectronics, integrated circuit design).
• Project Management Experience: At least 3–5 years of proven experience in Technical Project Management or complex programme management, ideally in deep-tech, semiconductor, or R&D environments.
• International Projects: Experience working within international collaborative projects (e.g., EU-funded programmes) is a strong plus.
• Start-up & Innovation Programs: Previous experience supporting start-ups or SMEs within incubation, acceleration, or technology transfer programmes is appreciated.
• Structured Approach: A rigorous, proactive, and problem-solving oriented profile, comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and concurrent workstreams.
• Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to translate technical and procedural requirements into clear, actionable guidance. Fluency in English is required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with EDA tools, IP/technology development cycles, and prototyping processes is highly desirable. PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.

In accordance with current regulations, the anticipated gross annual salary range for this position is between Euro 40,000.00 and 65,000.00. The range width is designed to evaluate candidates with varying levels of seniority; the final offer will be strictly commensurate with the candidate's actual experience and skills, and will be supplemented by the employee benefits provided for the role.
