Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 is the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of 2026, carrying on the organization, promotion and communication of the sporting and cultural events related to the next Winter Games. Milano Cortina 2026 will be the first large-scale Olympics in history: 13 Olympic venues, 21 provincial capitals, 2,300 municipalities directly involved, over an area of 22,000 square km. The Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee has been established in 2019 with the purpose of organizing Olympic and Paralympic Games in compliance with the Host City Contract signed jointly by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the two cities of Milano and Cortina and the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). Furthermore, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the Regions of Lombardy and Veneto, as well as the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano/Bozen are all partners in this major national-level project, with the support of the Italian Government.
This role exists to ensure the smooth and compliant movement of goods for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Customs Supervisor manages customs clearance processes, coordinates freight activities, and ensures compliance with international, national, and specific regulations for the event.
If this role didn’t exist the probabilities of the following scenarios would increase:
- Customs clearance could be delayed, impacting Games operations.
- Risk of non-compliance with customs and trade regulations, potentially resulting in fines or confiscation of goods.
- Disruption in coordination between internal teams, external stakeholders, and government authorities.
- Secure government commitment for Olympic and Paralympic customs procedures, including duty exemptions. - Develop and maintain a Customs & Freight Forwarding Guide aligned with IOC/IPC policies and government requirements. - Supervise transfer of materials from foreign countries, ensuring compliance with customs laws and documentation. - Ensure service levels with Customs & Freight Forwarding (C&FF) Providers are met and foster cross-functional collaboration. - Support in the preparation and review of all customs documentation, including invoices, packing lists, and declarations, ensuring regulatory compliance. - Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide accurate customs-related information and resolve issues. - Maintain accurate records of customs permits, certifications, and documentation required by authorities. - Coordinate transportation, track shipments and manage critical situations efficiently. Essential: - Minimum 6 years’ experience in customs clearance and freight coordination. - Strong knowledge of local, national, and international customs regulations, import/export laws, and trade compliance. - Proficiency in customs documentation and administrative procedures. - Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in relevant software and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-pressure, team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with specialized customs processes for restricted items, food & alcohol, ammunition, and firearms.
Desirable:
- Experience in Olympic or large-scale international events logistics.
- Bachelor’s degree in international trade, logistics, management engineering, legal, international relations, or related field (or equivalent specialized experience).
