At Cesar S.p.A., the company managing the Acqua & Sapone and La Saponeria brands, we are building a new Data Science team to support a data-driven transformation journey across the organization. Cesar S.p.A. has been a leader for more than 30 years in the beauty, home care and personal care sectors. Through the Acqua & Sapone and La Saponeria store brands, we operate more than 850 points of sale and are expanding across Italy and Spain. The launch of our new loyalty programme, the implementation of the new MS Dynamics 365 ERP system and the growing availability of high-quality data are opening a particularly exciting phase: we want to turn insights, models and analytical solutions into concrete, measurable decisions that are closely connected to the business.
The role: As Senior Data Scientist, you will work on high-impact strategic initiatives, contributing to the design and development of custom solutions across areas such as supply chain, demand forecasting, assortment, promotions, loyalty, pricing, geomarketing and store network expansion. This is a true greenfield opportunity: many solutions will be built from scratch, with the goal of helping the business move beyond manual processes by bringing structure, automation and predictive capabilities into decision-making.
What you will do: - Work closely with business teams to understand problems, processes, available data and operational objectives;
- Translate business needs into well-structured analytics and data science problems;
- Develop models, analyses and data-driven tools that generate measurable business value;
- Lead the iterative development of solutions, from experimentation through to user adoption;
- Support business teams during testing, validation and integration of solutions into operational processes.
What we are looking for: - At least 3 years of experience in data science;
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL; experience with cloud computing will be considered a plus;
- Solid foundations in machine learning, statistics and key developments in AI;
- Experience developing lightweight web applications with open-source frameworks such as Streamlit or Flask;
- Familiarity with data visualisation tools;
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical, managerial and operational stakeholders;
- Good professional command of English.
Experience with retail and transactional data will be considered particularly relevant. Alternatively, a background in consulting or complex business environments will be valued, especially where you have developed the ability to understand business needs and turn them into concrete analytical solutions.
Location and working model: The role involves periodic travel to our Pescara office, indicatively at least one week per month, with frequency varying depending on the project pipeline and collaboration needs with business teams.
Contract and compensation: We offer a permanent employment contract under the Italian CCNL DMO collective agreement. Compensation will be aligned with experience and skills.
Why join us: - You will join a Data Science team in its early stages, with the opportunity to contribute directly to methods, tools and priorities;
- You will work on business-focused use cases with direct impact on a large and growing retail network;
- You will have the opportunity to build solutions from scratch, combining technical expertise, analytical thinking and stakeholder engagement.
If you are interested in applying data science to real business problems, working closely with business teams and contributing to the data-driven transformation of a fast-evolving retail group, this could be the right opportunity for you. Apply or share this opportunity with someone who may be interested.
Cesar S.p.A. promotes an inclusive working environment and values applications from people with different backgrounds, experiences and career paths.
